Kanye West's remarks about slavery over the summer turned to be controversial. Now that the 41-year-old rapper issued an apology in a new interview with WGCI-FM on Wednesday, August 29, there are rumors he just did it because Kim Kardashian threatened to divorce him.
An alleged source told a gossip magazine Kim is now handling Kanye's career. Allegedly, she is the one who asked him to talk about his controversial remarks in public and issue an apology. There are also reports the 37-year-old reality star is the one who advised him to rehire his manager, Scooter Braun.
The insider continued to say Kim was angry at his husband's slavery comments. She reportedly threatened to divorce him if he didn't listen to her and follow her advice. The tipster added the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star did not want Kanye to suffer another breakdown.
The publication also claimed Kim did not want to worry about her family's safety once again. So she desperately wanted Kanye to apologize. It was also a big coincidence when the "Gold Digger" hitmaker rehired Braun just before his interview occurred. He supposedly did these all as Kim took control of him and left him with no choice.
But Gossip Cop proved the rumors are not true. Kim is not handling Kanye's career. He didn't even fire his manager. In an interview with Billboard in June, Braun revealed he and the Yeezy founder did not stop working together. He has been working with him "over the past six months" at the time of the interview.
The truth is Kanye hired his former manager, John Monopoly, to work with Braun. There is also no truth about Kim not worrying about her family's safety. The socialite admitted she lost her calm when her husband made the slavery comments. Hence, she has been waiting for the perfect time he could have the chance to explain himself.
According to CNN, Kanye tried his best to explain his side about his slavery remarks. He told Chicago's WGCI-FM he had no idea if he had "properly apologized" for the pain he had caused everyone about his comments. So he took advantage of the moment and formally said sorry to everyone and how he made them feel.
"I'm sorry for people who felt let down by that moment," he said. He also revealed what happened showed him how black people love him and how they count and depend on him. "I appreciate that," he added.
