Dakota Johnson left everyone in awe when she arrived at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of her new movie "Suspiria" on Saturday, September 1. The 28-year-old star looked stunning wearing her overflowing satin gown paired with a classy hairstyle. Now her hairstylist, Mark Townsend, is revealing how other women can achieve her look.
Townsend revealed Johnson chose the red strapless gown with a touch of both classic and modern style for the world premiere of "Suspiria." To complement her look, they wanted her hair to be classy as well, so they decided to put it in a bun and made it contemporary by adding fringe and texture. They called her hairstyle "Venice Bun."
According to Hollywood Life, Townsend started fixing Johnson's hair by putting heat protection spray and dried it with a professional hair dryer. He put it into a ponytail and locked it with elastic after the hair was dry. He then twisted the ponytail around the base to create a bun and secured it with hairpins.
"I put the hair into a ponytail before doing a bun to create extra security," he told the publication. He put hairpins under the elastic to hold the hair's shape. For the final touches, he sprayed sea salt spray on his hands and brushed it through her hair for added texture. He then loosened some hair around her face.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Reuters, via Daily Mail Online, Johnson revealed she had to work hard for the preparation of the next "Fifty Shades" movie. However, she admitted it was nothing compared to the physical stunts she did for "Suspiria."
"Suspiria" is a remake of the 1970s cult classic. Johnson played the role of Susie, originally portrayed by Jessica Harper. She went to a dance school in Berlin only to find out some strange powers. The old women from the academy were impressed by her "instinctual" talent and "violent dancing," so she quickly got the lead role for an upcoming performance.
However, something horrible was about to happen. Susie's fears started with her ability to dance like a possessed woman.
"It was amazing to discover that I could do that with my body," Johnson said. But Jamie Dornan's on-screen partner admitted she had to do a lot of works and series of training to be able to do that. She worked for six months before "Suspiria" production started. At the time, she was filming the third installment for "Fifty Shades" trilogy in Vancouver. After work, she would go straightly to her trainer to start training.
