The health of Angelina Jolie is not derailing her career, despite a report. This claim was debunked one year ago that Jolie's Bell's palsy may end her professional life. Still, until now, there are no proofs that this happened.
The National Enquirer claimed on September 7, 2017, that Jolie has been suffering from a "new health crisis" that she had just "learned" about.
But, this claim is not entirely true as she discussed her Bell's palsy diagnosis in the September issue of Vanity Fair. In the article, Jolie revealed that she had the medical ailment, causing her face to droop in 2016, but made a "full recovery." Thus, this was not a "new" health crisis neither an ongoing one.
The publication wanted its readers to believe otherwise.
"Angie's terrified this could end her career," the alleged source quoted. "She built her empire on playing a gorgeous leading lady, and as brutal as it is, those roles will dry up if her beautiful face is changed in any way."
The pictures from the Vanity Fair cover story proved her "beautiful face" hadn't actually "changed" permanently at all.
According to Gossip Cop, Jolie explained she only had facial paralysis temporarily, and that she had gone back to normal even before her illness became known to the public.
Following this story back in September 2017, Jolie was a frequent fixture during awards season. For instance, she attended the Hollywood Film Awards in November, and the Golden Globes in January with her son Pax.
She spoke at both events, which seemingly had no apparent problems with her face. It's worth noting that her career continues without any health issues. She spent the summer shooting "Maleficent 2," while "Come Away with Jolie" has already started production that will continue this fall.
She also went to the Critics' Choice Awards in January 2018, and fans witnessed there was no issue with her facial appearance.
Therefore, her health is not derailing her professional career. It's obvious, as per Gossip Cop, that there weren't changes in her face over time. And despite the report, her condition has been already resolved before the claim was made.
The publication also makes other claims about Jolie. Just two months ago, the tabloid claimed Jolie allegedly "collapsed" during her custody battle with her ex-partner, Brad Pitt. The outlet shared an old photo of Jolie, wherein she was performing a movie stunt.
