Lady Gaga graced the cover of Vogue magazine's October issue. In the cover story, the "A Star is Born" star talked about the effects and trauma caused by rape, which she suffered when she was 19-years-old, and how she managed to heal herself.

Lady Gaga first opened up about her rape in an interview with Howard Stern on "Sirius XM" show in 2015. She also revealed this caused her to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

"No one else knew," Lady Gaga confessed, per People. The 32-year-old star revealed she tried to remove the memories of rape from her brain. But when it managed to come out, she likened it to a "big, ugly monster" that she always has to face to heal.

Lady Gaga also revealed she is continuously fighting PTSD and its symptoms. With her mental health issues, the "Poker Face" hitmaker stated half of the battle she had to face in the start was the feeling she was lying to the world because of the pain nobody knew she had. Hence, she came out admitting she has PTSD as she wanted to stop hiding it.

Talking about her trauma, Lady Gaga described it as a feeling or being "stunned or stunted" liking it to a roller coaster ride that is bringing fear and a drop in her stomach. "My diaphragm seizes up," she said. It will then cause her to have a hard time breathing, and her whole body is starting to go into a spasm. From here, she will begin to cry.

"It's miserable," she added. The "American Horror Story" star also described trauma like it has its brain that knows how to get into everything she does.

Lady Gaga is using her fame and influence in the entertainment industry not just to tell her story but also to inspire others, Us Weekly reported. To recall, she even used her performance at the 2016 Oscars to address the issue of sexual abuse when she sang Diane Warren's "Til It Happens to You" while being surrounded by 50 men and women who were also victims of the said violence. Later, she revealed it was the first time some members of her family learned what she had been through when she was a teenager.

Meanwhile, in the same Vogue cover story, Lady Gaga also opened up about her "chronic pain and fibromyalgia." It is a disorder that triggers extensive muscle pain, tenderness, fatigue, sleep and memory disorders, and mood problems.

Lady Gaga described this illness as a "cyclone of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and panic disorder." When these things happen to her at once, it will cause her nervous system to overdrive and her nerves will start to hurt.
