Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham sparked another round of speculation about their marriage after a brief exchange on the red carpet at the 52nd Deauville American Film Festival in France went viral, despite other photographs from the evening showing the couple kissing and embracing.
The moment occurred Sept. 8 as Peltz prepared to pose alone for photographers. Brooklyn stepped toward his wife and moved the train of her white Alberta Ferretti gown behind her, prompting what some social-media viewers interpreted as an irritated look from the actress.
House of Vanity, which circulated footage of the exchange on X, wrote: "Nicola Peltz appeared a little irritated when Brooklyn Beckham took it upon himself to move the train of her beautiful Alberta Ferretti gown behind her on the red carpet."
The short clip quickly drew conflicting interpretations. "Ooof that look, he will be running home soon," one user wrote, while another said: "He's like a spare part."
Others interpreted Brooklyn's expression after the exchange as evidence of tension. "His face knew that he was going to get it in the ear later," one commenter wrote. Another added: "Oh, he knows he is in trouble."
Not everyone saw a marital disagreement. "I thought it was sweet," one viewer wrote, while another joked: "He's got a new job, her stylist."
The footage itself doesn't establish that Peltz was angry with Brooklyn or that the couple argued. It captures only a brief expression during an otherwise affectionate appearance, and neither Brooklyn nor Peltz has said the exchange reflected a dispute between them.
The couple were in Deauville as Peltz supported her "Prima" co-star Faye Dunaway, who received the festival's Deauville Icon Award. Peltz wore a ruffled white gown with a long train, while Brooklyn appeared alongside her in a black suit and white shirt.
Photographs taken before and after the gown adjustment presented a markedly different picture from the viral clip. Brooklyn and Peltz kissed, embraced and remained close as photographers captured their arrival.
House of Vanity itself noted that the couple were "once again practically inseparable" during the festival. The contrast between those photographs and the brief gown incident helped turn an otherwise routine red-carpet appearance into another subject of online debate.
The scrutiny comes amid a much broader public dispute involving Brooklyn and his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, and other members of the Beckham family. Brooklyn earlier this year issued a lengthy statement describing years of tensions and defending his marriage against criticism.
"I have been silent for years," Brooklyn said while accusing relatives of "trying to endlessly ruin his relationship" with Peltz.
