Casey Affleck gave everyone an update on his brother's, Ben Affleck, rehab on Monday, September 10, at the premiere of his new movie "The Old Man and the Gun" at the Toronto International Film Festival. The 34-year-old Oscar winner commended the recovery of Jennifer Garner's former husband and remained optimistic he would be sober.
"He's doing great," Casey told Entertainment Tonight. The "Manchester by the Sea" star added Ben is now recovering and appears to be "doing well."
Casey also told ExtraTV Ben remains strong and takes some time for himself and his family. "He's going to be OK," he continued to say. As he knows his brother is a great guy, he is certain the 46-year-old older Affleck will get back on track in no time.
Ben returned to rehab for alcohol addiction on August 22. His former wife, Garner, staged an intervention and came to his house with an addiction expert. The 46-year-old actress even drove the father of her three children - Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6, - to a treatment center in Malibu.
A source told People Ben went drinking-spree when he was alone for a couple of days. "He was in bad shape," the insider added. The "Batman v Superman" actor neither ate nor showered as he had been drunk for days.
So Ben started to seek treatment at the time. He knew he already needed help and even openly talked about it. Garner didn't even have a hard time to convince him as he really wanted to get medical help and he voluntarily cooperated.
Ben has a huge support system as he fights his alcohol addiction. A source told Us Weekly his number one supporter, Garner, will "continue to be there for him whenever he needs her." He also gets his longtime best friend's, Matt Damon, support and his new partner's, the Playboy model Shauna Sexton, back.
Sexton was recently spotted in Malibu as she visited Ben at the rehab on Sunday, September 9. However, ET reported the "Justice League" actor's relationship with the playmate is the cause of argument among his close pals.
There are rumors about the facility's staff, and Ben's friends are all concern over his connection with Sexton. The Playboy model is said to be not sober yet, so everyone who supports the "Gone Girl" actor on his battle is afraid she may cause him trouble.
Allegedly, Garner is also "frustrated" with Ben's romance with Sexton. The "Peppermint" star is aware the "Argo" actor is back at the house with his new flame, and it upsets her.
