Lucy Liu says the reboot of Elizabeth Banks' "Charlie's Angels" will be great for women. The cast of the upcoming remake was announced last month with Ella Balinska, Kristen Stewart, and Naomi Scott as new generation Angels.

"To me, I think it's very exciting," Liu said to ET Online on Monday. "It's like Sherlock Holmes. The material in itself is a very different type of literature -- and it's not necessarily literature."

Liu also added that people will keep coming back to and they're drawn to. It is something that needed to be explored and it should be explored on all different levels if needed.

"It will only be a more positive result for women," She further added.

Liu played the role of Alex Munday in the 2000 film, along with Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz.

The new generation of Charlie's Angel will focus on them working for the mysterious Charlie. Banks will reportedly star as Bosley, while producing and directing the film at the same time. Bill Murray played the role of John Bosley in the 2000 Charlie's Angels.

"I want to do right by the franchise and by the women that we involve and I want to say something to people and I want the movie to matter. That's hard to do, but we're getting closer and closer," Banks said in March 2017 of her intentions with the reboot. Banks promised that to introduce the modern era of Charlie's Angel.

"Charlie's Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the '70s," she said in a statement. "This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn't be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world."

During the Beautycon Festival LA in July, Barrymore also spoke to ET Online saying that she's also for a Charlie's Angel reboot - just like Liu.

"I am just excited for them, you know, because every generation that brings Charlie's Angels out into the world is about the power of three women across and what they can do while loving them and wanting to date them, and working side by side with them, but there's just something about Charlie's Angels, that make men and women so happy!" she said at the time.

The "Charlie's Angel" reboot is scheduled for a Sept. 27, 2019, theatrical release.
