Ben Affleck has only one thing in mind as he once again battles his alcohol addiction in the rehab. In a new interview, the 46-year-old actor's brother Casey Affleck revealed the "Batman" star is only thinking of his kids, Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6, and his former wife, Jennifer Garner.
"I think for his kids' sake and for their mom, and for himself, he's trying to do the work and get it together," Casey told Entertainment Tonight. The younger Affleck explained alcohol addiction also affects the victim's family, not just the person.
"Ben is trying to put it together, and it can be a very hard thing to do," Casey added. Fortunately, Ben has the means and opportunity to be in a facility. However, it may not be easy for her brother, especially with the fame he has.
Casey explained it is not easy to have everyone's eyes looking at his brother and taking his picture as he walked out of the intervention. He even cited his father as an example as he saw his struggle through it all. Comparing Ben and their dad, Casey revealed things are harder for the "Batman v Superman" actor as there are a lot of cameras following him.
Casey also revealed alcoholism runs on their blood. It is part of the family's history. The 43-year-old actor stated most of their grandparents have an alcohol addiction. He even confessed their father is an alcoholic, but he is now 30 years sober.
The "Manchester by the Sea" star also admitted he used to be an alcoholic, but he has been sober for six years. Although it may not be a pleasant thing to see, Casey is even proud of it and said it is something they should not be ashamed of.
To recall, Garner drove Ben to a "live-in" facility in LA County last month after he asked treatment for his alcohol addiction. According to Metro News, the 46-year-old actress was afraid Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel would grow up without a father, so she urged her former husband to go to the rehab.
It is not the first time Ben went to rehab to cure his alcohol addiction. He first went to a facility in 2001. In fact, in 2012, he credited Casey and his best pal, Matt Damon, for their huge support during his recovery.
Ben completed his second rehab in 2017 and said he needed help for the sake of his kids. He said he wanted to "live his life to the fullest" and be the best father for Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. He also added his luck to have the support of his family and friends, especially his co-parent, Garner.
