Sorry, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx's fans. The two, who have been rumored to be dating since 2013, are not co-starring in a Scientology movie to get revenge on her ex-husband Tom Cruise despite a report.
In the September 2017 issue of Radar Online (via Gossip Cop), it was claimed that the 39-year-old actress and producer is planning to star in a yet untitled film about a therapy that runs to counter the beliefs embraced by Scientology. She will be joined by rumored boyfriend, Jamie Foxx, who has been allegedly cast in the male lead role.
According to the source, the said therapy is the only thing that saved the "Abandon" actress from her suffocating marriage to the 56-year-old actor and producer in the clutches of the church. This is mainly the reason why she is too eager to star in the said film, which would also help other women who have similar experiences.
"[Katie Holmes is] determined to continue being an advocate of therapy," the source told the news outlet. "So she picked her next movie role, in an adaptation of the enormously best-selling self-help book 'The Secret,' because of its therapeutic value," the source added.
The source went on to say that the mother-of-one hopes to use the film to become a self-help guru and completely defy Scientology's views of therapy. The actress alleged appearance in the upcoming film with her rumored boyfriend would also be the ultimate slap in "Jack Reacher" actor's face, the source added.
Now, exactly one year since the report was published, Gossip Cop has ultimately debunked such claims stating that the "Miss Meadows" star never sought to exact revenge on her ex-husband for the past six years since their separation, nor has she been an advocate of therapy.
It is also worth noting that the narrative of Rhonda Byrne's "The Secret" has nothing to do with defying Scientology's views of therapy. Instead, the best-selling book tells a story of a young widow who eventually believes in the power of the universe to deliver what humans want after meeting a handyman. Much to her surprise, the handyman carries a secret connection to her past.
"Our filmmakers have created a compelling family love story that embodies the principles of The Secret," producer Robert Cort told the Hollywood Reporter. "We intend to make a film as funny, emotional and endearing as its message is hopeful," he added.
The film will be helmed by "Sweet Home Alabama" director, Andy Tennant. No release date has been set yet.
