Instagram has turned into a social media platform liked by many. The company is looking forward to pushing the craze for it to the next level. It is adding up an interactive shopping feature to its Explore section. The tab will reportedly be active from today.
According to MailOnline, the shopping tab will initially be available from today, however, all the users may get it by the coming week. Instagram stated in its official blog post: "Now when you simply want to shop for fun, you'll see a channel dedicated to Shopping posts from the brands you follow and brands you might like." Potential sources reported that the new shopping tab would be added as a channel to Explore section. The shopping channel will be placed at the top of the Explore page. It will compliment all the other channels which include Art, Beauty, Sports, and Fashion.
The topic channels are all sorted in the 'For You' section. The Verge also quoted that Instagram will also allow the sellers to use stickers (as a one-time opportunity for the time being) to promote their products. The social media platform owned by Facebook already holds a large influx of global sellers. While explaining the current growth scenario of Instagram, Instagram's chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg stated that at least 90 million global users tap posts to reveal shopping tags in a month. She further added that more than 25 million businesses from various parts of the world already have Instagram accounts. Among them, 2 million business based subscribers advertise with Facebook.
As Instagram is also vastly becoming a popular social platform. Therefore, it is expected that users will more indulge themselves in shopping and buying things which they like, over Instagram, Sandberg concluded. Despite adding the new shopping channel, Instagram is also said to announce its standalone shopping platform very soon. However, Instagram authorities have not specified any actual date for this development yet. Some reliable sources also suggested that Instagram may also ditch its plan for a separate shopping platform, by adding up all the required features to its newest shopping channel only, at a later part.
As for now, users can use the stickers offered by the sellers on their products to choose and tap down these in their wishlist. Instagram initially began testing its shopping feature back in November 2016. It rolled out the first instance of in back in March 2017. Now, to keep up with the phase, the social media platform is launching its shopping channel as wide feature for all.
