The "Battle of the Bastards" in Season 6 of "Game of Thrones" is arguably one of the show's best episodes so far. But for Peter Dinklage, Season 8 will be much better.
Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister in HBO's titular TV series, says another epic battle is in store for the upcoming season, Metro reports.
While promoting his new film "I Think We're Alone Now," the 49-year-old actor talked a bit about the series' highly-anticipated installment. He was also asked whether anything could possibly top the iconic episode mentioned above.
He confidently replied, "Oh my god, and then some. You are in for it. Truly.'
The hit fantasy series is best remembered for the "Battle of the Bastards" episode, which happens during the penultimate episode of the sixth season. The epic war offers a stomach-turning, edge-of-your-seat face-off between Kit Harrington's Jon Snow and Iwan Rheon's Ramsay Bolton, both of whom are bastards; hence, the title of the episode.
According to Celebrity Insider, the "Game of Thrones" producers shot a large battle scene for the final season and it took about 55 nights just to finish it. The crew filmed the battle at the Winterfell set, which is spread out over three locations: Moneyglass, Saintfield, and Magheramorne Quarry.
The primary goal was to reportedly shoot the battle in separate locations. From there, they would combine everything in the editing room and try to come up with a massive battle in Season 8.
Prior to the battle scene, the "Battle of the Bastards" episode was claimed to be the biggest scene in "Game of Thrones" to date. Considering how intense it was, it only makes sense that the episode's fight sequence required over 30 days to complete.
While Dinklage is pretty subtle with his comments - and no one can exactly tell what he was referring to - it is very likely that the 55-night shoot will outdo anything the fans have ever seen on television, let alone the jaw-dropping episode.
"Game of Thrones" is the kind of show packed with different fan theories. One of these is the long speculated involving Tyrion Lannister, who is believed to be a Targaryen and, thus, related to Jon Snow and Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen. This also means that he is the son of Aerys II Targaryen and Joanna Lannister.
The theory is heavily based on the Three-Headed Dragon prophecy, which states three Targaryen's will fly three dragons into battle, and seems to refer Daenerys, Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen), and a mystery third, believed to be Tyrion.
