The much-awaited comeback project of Song Joong Ki, "Asadal," might have a chance to be a seasonal drama. There are rumors the new tvN show is in talks to have multiple seasons.
According to Soompi, after tvN completed the casting of "Asadal," there are discussions the show might become a seasonal drama. The talks about the show to possibly have multiple seasons started when it was just in the early stages of production, and even before the casting got completed.
"It's still in its production stage and requires necessary discussions," a source said. It also added tvN may or may not make "Asadal" as a seasonal drama during the production progress, but at the moment, it is "currently in discussion."
A source from tvN, on the other hand, released an official statement to address the rumors about Song Joong Ki's comeback TV series. "The matter of 'Asadal' becoming a seasonal drama has not been confirmed," the insider explained. But the tipster confirmed the network is indeed "considering the possibility" of giving the show a seasonal format.
"Asadal" is a historical fantasy television series about love and spirit. It will also feature how the fictional land of Aseu develops through the time, per Koonb.
"Asadal" will star Jang Dong Gun as Tagon, a struggling hero who will lead the city to win victory. After a brief hiatus, Song Joong Ki will finally return to the small screen as Eun Sum. He was born with the energy of the blue star that brings catastrophe in the city while Kim Ji Won would play the role of his identical star as Tan Ya.
Another source revealed Jo Sung Ha would also appear in "Asadal" as Mi Hol, Choi Moo Sung as San Wook, and Park Byung Eun as Dan Byuk. Other stars who would join the show are Chu Ja Hyun, Yoo Tae Oh, Son Sook, Park Hye Joon, Jung Jae Won, Kim Ye Joon, and Heo Jung.
BH Entertainment confirmed Chu Ja Hyun would have a very special role to play in "Asadal." She would portray the important character of Ah Sa Hon. She would be the one who would tell the history of "Aseu."
The cast members gathered all together on August 26 for the first script reading of "Asadal." The show's filming is set to start in mid-September.
Fans are now excited to see Song Joong Ki as "Asadal" will soon hit the small screens in the first half of 2019 on tvN.
