Fans have been waiting for the coming of "The Punisher" Season 2 after almost a year of airing. Netflix simply teased that a new season is coming back in December 2017. So as the streaming service is keeping its lip-tight about the details of the show, here is everything we know so far.

"The Punisher" Season 2 already finished filming in July, but details about the show is still a big mystery. There are theories its new storyline is about the comic books' "Suicide Run" plotline, but there are also rumors that it may adopt "The Slavers" story, per ScreenRant.

The coming of Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, Floriana Lima as Krista Dumont, and Georgia Whigham as Amy Bendix seem to fit that "The Punisher" Season 2 will adopt the comics' storyline. Corbin Bernsen and Annette O'Toole will also join the cast as the wealthy couple Eliza and Anderson Schultz.

Although Netflix remains to be mum about "The Punisher" Season 2, Ben Barnes, who plays the role of Billy Russo, and Jon Bernthal, who portrays the lead role Frank Castle, teased what is about to come. In a video shared online, Castle has not seen Billy, who turned to be his supervillain Jigsaw. So does that mean he will not be the new season's villain?

According to Digital Spy, Jigsaw may not be "The Punisher" Season 2's main villain, but he will surely make an appearance. In an earlier interview, showrunner Steve Lightfoot revealed he has yet to decide who will be the new season's antihero.

"One of the villains I love is Barracuda [from Garth Ennis's 'Punisher MAX' series]. I think he's great fun," he said. "I also really like O'Brien [also introduced in 'Punisher MAX']. I thought she was always really cool. There are so many great characters there. It's a very fun sandbox to play in."

The new "The Punisher" Season 2 villain has to put Frank back to the fight as he left the war in the previous season. But as he is now close to the Micro's family, it may not far to happen.

Netflix has yet to reveal "The Punisher" Season 2's official release date. But as "Daredevil" Season 1 aired on April 10, 2015, its second season got released on March 18, 2016, and its new season would air on October 19, there are predictions Castle would probably return to the small screens in 2019.
