Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe had a "secret relationship" at some point, according to one of this week's report. Despite this claim, however, the two never had such a relationship as they have been friends for a very long time.
The latest issue of Woman Day's declares, "Our Secret Romance: Russell Finally Tells All... 32 Years Later." This cover headline has been accompanied by a story claiming, "Rusty Confesses: 'Yes, I'm In Love With Nicole.'"
But, the actual article never mentioned the two ever being an item, but only points out their decades-long friendship.
After the misleading headline, the article then noted about Kidman's two daughters with husband Keith Urban. The alleged source of the outlet quoted, Crowe "would never disrespect another guy's wife by acting inappropriately towards her, and their friendship is more important to him than anything."
The tabloid ended the article by noting that Kidman and Crowe have "a beautiful friendship, and they're both so grateful for each other." Although this is true, they never mentioned the supposed "secret romance" of the two, which was teased on the cover of the magazine. Additionally, it never mentioned when Crowe said: "Yes, I'm in love with Nicole."
According to Gossip Cop, the claim of Woman's Day does not represent the article within the magazine, claiming to be "not true."
The truth is, in the upcoming movie Boy Erased, Kidman and Crowe played a married couple, and the actor gushed about the actress while promoting the film. "I waited a long time to be married to Nicole," Crowe joked in an interview, which is for Kidman's October 2018 Marie Claire cover story. The two met more than 30 years ago while they were traveling in same social circles, and became close friends since then.
Therefore, the claim of the outlet comes from Crowe's joke in the interview. But, it doesn't necessarily mean he meant what he said, as it's clear to say he was only joking.
This is not the first time Kidman and Crowe have been subjected to false claims. Just last year, Gossip Cop busted National Enquirer for claiming Crowe was pursuing Kidman on the set of their film as he heard the actress was having a hard time in her marriage and was going to use the opportunity to pursue her on the set of their movie Boy Erased. However, not a single aspect of the story was proven to be true.
