Epic has just released a new update patch for "Fortnite," patch V6.01. This new update brings a "cool" addition to Battle Royale and a few more things that will make players enjoy the game even more.

Update patch V6.01 might not be as significant as the previous update, but it does bring with it an interesting new addition to the game, GameSpot noted. This new item, a trap aptly named the "Chiller," encases a player's feet on ice so that they will slide around in the game world.

Epic released a short video showcasing just what the Chiller does. It's basically a trap that players can deploy when building structures, and is especially effective when placed on a descending walkway. Players -- enemies and friends alike -- will have their feet frozen instantly upon stepping on the trap, and will slide off wherever gravity takes them.

The Chiller can be placed on floors, walls, and even ceilings. It's best placed in an area where enemies won't expect it, such as the top of a staircase or the side of a corner wall.

It's actually funny to see a player unknowingly step on the Chiller and slide downhill, even fall a long way down. Battle royale is a game mode that requires players to eliminate enemies anyway, and with the Chilller, there's now a "cooler" way for them to do that.

Aside from the Chiller, V6.01 also brings a few more things to the game. This includes two new weapons for the "Save the World" mode, a few tweaks to the Playground options, and a few bug fixes.

Save The World

Epic added the Lead Sled Hammer and Obliterator Sniper Rifle to Save the World, both of them available from the Weekly Store from October 3 to October 10, 8PM ET.

The Lead Sled Hammer is "a fast-swinging hammer that gains speed with each hit." Players will find their attack speed increasing as they land more hits on their target enemies. It also features a leap attack that damages the target enemy, and knocks down those around target.

The Obliterator Sniper Rifle is a slow-firing rifle with high damage and heavy kick. It's slow, but each shot can pierce through walls and husks, and even destroy structures fairly easily.

Playground

Epic now allows players to change a variety of settings for this limited-time mode. Now, starting health, time of day, gravity, and more can be tweaked according to a player's preferences.
