American Music Award producers warned Taylor Swift not to get too political during her performance on Tuesday's awards, according to a new claim. This story, however, has been debunked and corrected. Although Swift has been vocal on her political views, the AMAs' producers haven't warned her to keep quiet.
Swift posted a photo on Instagram last Monday where she said she could not support Marsha Blackburn, a Republican congresswoman who is seeking the same seat in the upcoming midterm elections on November 6.
In her post, the singer stated that while she would ideally "like to continue voting for women in office," she cannot support Blackburn as she felt she's not "willing to fight for [the] dignity of ALL Americans," regardless of the gender, sexual orientation, or skin color. She also pointed on out the Republican candidate's views on LGBTQ rights.
Because of those remarks, RadarOnline claims Swift has been "warned" on stating further "controversial statements." An alleged source of the tabloid asserted, "Producers at [the] AMA[s] have asked Taylor Swift to NOT get political," and added that AMAs are meant for celebrating "music and entertainment and unlike the Grammy awards they do not like political messages or speeches."
The outlet further contends Swift has separately increased her security because of her Instagram post. Then, another source claimed Swift is now more open when it comes to commenting on politics as she made her homes and cars "bulletproof."
But, according to Gossip Cop, Swift's additional security has nothing to do with her political views, but it's related to her having obsessed fans and stalkers. The singer obtained a restraining order a few weeks ago, which is against a stalker who allegedly threatened to "kill" and "rape" her.
Back in April, an intruder broke into a New York apartment owned by Swift, and a man was arrested for trespassing at her Beverly Hills mansion after trying to scale the home's walls on that same month, while another has been caught there with black gloves, a knife, and live ammunition. Hence, she had faced several threats even before she voiced out her political views.
And regardless, the latest report about Swift being warned by AMAs producers is not true as her rep confirmed the claim is simply false.
Gossip Cop previously busted the same outlet for maintaining Swift and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn were headed for a split as the singer signed on to a movie adaptation of Cats. The outlet then noted the "grueling filming schedule" caused the couple to break up, yet this was proved to be a false report.
