It is a bittersweet time for Chris Evans. The 37-year-old actor, who plays Steve Rogers / Captain America since 2011, said filming the untitled "Avengers" film, colloquially referred to as "Avengers 4," was an emotional experience.
As production on the untitled "Avengers" film wrapped up last week, Chris Evans candidly opened up about his last days on the set and how it felt to bid farewell to his role as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.
"That last day of filming really was a very emotional day," Chris Evans admitted at this year's ACE Comic Con Midwest, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "It was the culmination of almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies - this unbelievable tapestry - and you feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I'd feel, and I felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude," he added.
Chris Evans went on to clarify his "Avengers 4" goodbye tweet. He stressed that he had not given anything away concerning the plot or ending and added that no matter how the upcoming superhero film ends, he would have tweeted the same message that sparked fears that his character dies.
Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful. — Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) October 4, 2018
The much-awaited untitled "Avengers" film picks up where the 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War" left off in, which Dr. Stephen Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) 14 million visions showing how to bring down Thanos (Josh Brolin) based on other dimensions and different times will reportedly be shown.
It is also speculated that Tony Stark / Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will become the brand new director of S.H.I.E.L.D., wherein he authorizes the activation of the Iron Legion to help rebuild the world. He will also use the said Iron Legion to search for Thanos throughout the galaxy.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth), on the other hand, will meet with Professor Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) and together, they will visit the cave where he had his first vision of the Infinity Stones. In this new vision, Thor finds out that everyone who died after the snap is not dead yet and can be found inside the Soul Stone. With this information, Thor goes to Tony Stark and tell him everything he knows.
The untitled "Avengers" film also stars Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Mark Ruffalo as, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Paul Bettany as Vision, and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 3, 2019.
