A New Zealand-based company specializing in Maori products is aiming to be the first one to bring these products into the domestic Chinese market. NZ Post, along with the state-owned AsureQuality, is setting their sights on China. The company aims to bring high-quality, fully verified, Maori-owned food and beverage products directly into the Chinese market.

Dubbed as the Food Trust Framework, it is the first of its own to be established this year. The collaboration will allow domestic Chinese consumers to have full confidence that the products being sold to them are fully verified and authentic. The products are also produced by authentic Maori producers which were recently established as part of the new HUI Maori Collective.

The HUI Maori Collective is composed of 11 companies, all of which sell a wide range of premium and authentic Maori products. Among those expected to hit the Chinese market are Kawakawa soft drink, wine, Manuka honey, and fruit bars.

The New Zealand Trade and Enterprise is one of the first few institutions to adopt this initiative. The institution said that all products produced by the HUI Maori Collective will be hosted on the NZ Post's digital store on the e-commerce platform of Tmall Global, a subsidiary of the Alibaba Group.

Once launched, Chinese consumers can essentially order online and NZ Post will be the one tasked to package all the order from the company's airport warehouse and then send it directly to Chinese consumers. NZ Post said the company will tap the services of China Post as its logistics and delivery partner.

On the side of New Zealand, Auckland Airport will be used as the official carrier and logistics partner of the collective. Auckland Airport is also planning to create a promotional video that will highlight what the company describes "producer to consumer story."

In order to win consumer trust and impose transparency, NZ Post is using a unique AsureQuality QR code. Additionally, all products are will undergo a verified physical delivery logistics system in order to verify its authenticity.

According to AsureQuality Chief Executive Officer John McKay, the quality assurance framework that the company adopted will be employed independently in order to fully authenticate and endorse the manufacturing process of HUI, along with its robust supply chain.

The HUI Collective will hit the Chinese market on Monday, Nov. 5. The NZ Post said that it will use the China International Import Expo in Shanghai as the proper stage to launch the collective.
