It looks like fans will still see familiar faces in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16. After stating her interest to leave the long-running television series, Ellen Pompeo is more likely to stay because of this one reason.
In an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, October 23, Ellen Pompeo told a story of a man that made her changed her mind. A young guy joined the show as a gay character, not knowing he is also gay in real life, per Hollywood Life. He used the series to tell his parents about his sexuality that made the 48-year-old actress decided to stay in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16 and beyond.
Ellen Pompeo realized the impact "Grey's Anatomy" has on its viewers. The series has helped its start to come out and be himself in front of his parents. "I used the show as a way to tell my parents I was gay," the character told the actress. "To show my parents that it's okay that I'm different and there's nothing wrong with me."
Ellen Pompeo told Ellen DeGeneres that she felt obligated on "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16 until ABC decides to put it to an end. ."There's just no end in sight," she said. "I gotta keep doing it, man, because we're touching lives and making a difference."
Vanity Fair reported that Ellen Pompeo assured Ellen Degeneres that she would finish "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16, and would be in the show until she finishes her contract in 2020. To recall, the "Law & Order" star said in an interview on Entertainment Weekly, via Pop Sugar, in September that she wanted a change, to do new things, and start her producing career. Fortunately, the said character has changed her mind.
Meanwhile, aside from Ellen Pompeo, Sarah Drew is most likely to return to the series. Will it happen in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16? To recall, the 38-year-old star along with Jessica Capshaw left the show at the end of Season 14.
Sarah Drew's character, April, got into a car accident, survived, got married, and left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the last season's finale. Now, the "Indivisible" star might return in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 16.
"I'll never say never because they are my family," she told Entertainment Tonight. Sarah Drew said she loves everyone from "Grey's Anatomy" from people in front and back of the camera to the community. It even holds a special place in her heart. Although she might find it hard to say hello to the show again, she revealed she would "never say never" to it.
