Caitlyn Jenner now revokes her support to US President Donald Trump as he fails to support the LGBTQ community, and even continuously insult their group. The 68-year-old star writes an op-ed that addresses the issues their circle faces, and how she regrets supporting the POTUS before.
"Following Trump's election as president, I saw fertile ground for change within the Republican Party on LGBTQ issues," Caitlyn Jenner wrote on the Washington Post about Donald Trump. "Trump was the first Republican presidential candidate to claim to support this valuable, vulnerable community."
Now, Caitlyn Jenner regrets she voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election. The retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete got encouraged to support the host-turned-politician because of the applause he received at the Republican National Convention in July 2016, when he talked about supporting the LGBTQ community, but she was wrong.
Caitlyn Jenner admitted it was a mistake to believe Donald Trump's promises about the LGBTQ rights. According to Hollywood Life, Kris Jenner's former partner became more aware of the community's issues after her transition. So she easily believed Melania Trump's husband's vow to support the group. After all, she has been a lifelong Republican supporter.
"Sadly, I was wrong," Caitlyn Jenner continued to say. The reality star was once optimistic that she could her privilege to help the LGBTQ community. But instead of being a tool for change, Donald Trump continuously attack the group. She claimed that the Commander in Chief shows no respect for their "already marginalized and struggling" circle.
Caitlyn Jenner even said that Donald Trump has "ignored and insulted" the LGBTQ community, and turned them into "political pawns." She also added that the US leader's anti-transgender policies, which he claimed to protect the country, has upset and personally hurt her.
The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star's beliefs that Donald Trump would support the LGBTQ community, and their rights got misplaced. Caitlyn Jenner then said that she couldn't give her support to someone who is working against their group.
So Caitlyn Jenner confirmed that she is now stopping supporting Donald Trump. She admitted she already learned from her mistakes, and she is now moving forward.
To recall, Caitlyn Jenner's support for Donald Trump received doubts from some members of the LGBTQ community, per The Wrap. She also got criticized because of her move.
