A new report claims Zac Efron is worried that his new and upcoming film about serial killer Ted Bundy is "too gory." The actor was reportedly concerned that the film, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, might be "too brutal" for the audiences so he may not showcase his performance very well, especially if some of the scenes were edited. However, this claim has been debunked and confirmed the story isn't true at all.
One of OK! Magazine's article headlines declared, "Murder Movie Mess," and claimed Efron had been surrounded by major drama. A so-called source of the outlet contends the movie about Ted Bundy is too gory and brutal on the mainstream, so the filmmakers are making edits to make it into a psychological thriller. The insider then asserted that although Efron is patient with the cuts, he felt upset as the movie would be the his "big shot at" to shed his Disney past.
But the alleged source forgot to mention that Efron had several R-rated movies that shed his "Disney past" - including The Paperboy, Baywatch, and Dirty Grandpa. Still, the insider further claims the actor is trying his best to be "edgy" and worried that his best scenes would be cut. However, the film is not actually about the murders of Bundy to three dozen women as the Efron revealed in an interview a few months ago that the movie is about "how the world was able to be charmed over by this guy."
According to Gossip Cop, the tabloid's claim is not true and only based on a non-existent source, and a rep for Efron confirmed the report of the outlet is "totally untrue." It can be noted that, back in February, the sister publication of OK! Magazine, the National Enquirer, wrongly reported Efron believed he's "too handsome" to play the role of Ted Bundy in the movie.
The tabloid at that time said the actor had troubles in trouble getting into character since he's too much of a "heartthrob." Allegedly, the actor shouted, "I'm still too darn handsome!", after watching the first footage from the movie.
But, one of the reasons why Efron was cast as Bundy is because the real-life serial killer, Ted Bundy, was handsome where he used his good looks and charm to seduce female victims. It's clear to say, as per Gossip Cop, both publications know little details regarding the upcoming movie, which is set to release this 2019.
