The celebration is filled with monkey business since over 4,000 kilograms of food, which include fruits and cakes, will be served for 3,000 resident monkeys living in the place. This is to thank these monkeys for helping the town attract more tourists. YEE PENG LANTERN FESTIVAL, THAILAND (November 23, 2018)

If you do, then you have to visit Thailand soon and be able to witness Yee Peng Lantern Festival yourself. The feast is usually celebrated during a full moon in Chiang Mai, which is located in the northern part of Thailand. The locals believe that during this time, "rivers are filled to their fullest and the moon is at its brightest - the perfect time to 'make merit' and ... make a wish for good fortune in the new year," according to Bangkok.com. During the festival, the night sky will be lighted up with floating paper lanterns, which symbolizes letting go of misfortunes and bad luck that happened the previous year.
