Ashton Kutcher is not making a movie version of MTV prank show "Punk'd," despite the claim of a recent report. This story has been corrected and set straight for the record.
OK! Magazine claims the executives of Paramount Pictures and MTV were planning to make a film adaptation of the hit hidden-camera series of Kutcher, where he's usually pulling pranks on celebrities. A so-called source of the outlet said Paramount is hungry in producing a new prank-based film franchise, and they are now trying to convince Kutcher in participating. The alleged tipster then asserted the actor is on the verge of saying "yes" and he is considering the idea.
The unidentifiable insider added that no one would know when the film goes into production. The reason why it would be a secret, as per the source, is because they can't a get good footage of celebrities if ever they announce there will be a 'Punk'd' movie.
"If Ashton's going to do this, he needs to make sure he can pull it off," the unknown tipster continues. Then it further maintains Kutcher has a long list of celebrities he wanted to target - including Kevin Hart and Drake.
According to Gossip Cop, the claim of the tabloid has a lot of flaws. First, if Punk'd movie is being kept as a secret to successfully prank celebrities, then why would someone in the production share this "secret" on the tabloid? It's suspicious that the outlet is writing an article about it, yet the production wants to keep it a secret.
Gossip Cop also confirmed that the claim of the tabloid is only based on a non-existent source. A rep for Kutcher denied that there's a Punk'd movie on the way and said the outlet's premise is simply fabricated. The blog was also known for creating nonexistent Hollywood productions, and this story is an example of that.
Also, OK! Magazine also has a questionable record when it comes to reporting to Kutcher's life. The tabloid was busted last year for making readers believe that the actor's wife, Mila Kunis, had an exclusive interview with them to talk about their marriage.
Kunis allegedly had a one-on-one interview with the tabloid to discuss her marriage and relationship with Kutcher. But, the outlet only cropped the actress' quotes from different TV and print interviews to make it seems like she had an "exclusive interview" with them.
