In spite of HBO's great efforts to avoid "Games of Thrones" Season 8's spoilers and leaks, George R.R. Martin dropped a major hint about the show's ending. The 70-year-old author revealed new information about Aegon the Conqueror that suggested his link to Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) as the new Azor Ahai.

As George R.R. Martin's new book, "Fire and Blood," is about to hit the bookshelves next week, the "Song of Ice and Fire" author talked about the first king Aegon. "Aegon finally decided to take over Westeros and unify the seven kingdoms that existed at that time under a single rule," he said, per Express.co.uk. As Aegon happened to be Jon Snow's paternal half-sibling, would this have a connection with "Game of Thrones" Season 8?

George R.R. Martin continued to say that there were speculations Aegon saw what was coming to Westeros 300 years later, so he wanted to unite the Seven Kingdoms. This way, the entire realm would be prepared for the big threat coming to the North. The novelist said that the upcoming peril is what Jon Snow dealing in the "A Song of Ice and Fire." Hence, there are rumors he is talking about the Great War happening in "Game of Thrones" Season 8.

Earlier speculations saw Aegon's intent to unite the Seven Kingdoms was simply an invasion. But with George R.R. Martin's latest revelation, it seemed like he was the first Azor Ahai. He managed to unify the First Men and the Children of the Forest against the White Walkers. From the looks of it, Jon Snow might do the same in "Game of Thrones" Season 8.

Fans couldn't deny Jon Snow and Aegon's blood link, so it is not far that the King in the North is the new Azor Ahai. Kit Harington's character has been doing his best to unite the Seven Kingdoms to fight the threat in the North in "Game of Thrones" Season 8. He also has connections with the Children of the Forest through his brother, Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright).

Melisandre (Carice van Houten) also strongly believes that Jon Snow is Azor Ahai. If this is indeed true, then Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) life will be in danger in "Game of Thrones" Season 8.

According to Metro News, in the Prince that was Promised's prophecy, Azor Ahai has to sacrifice the life of his wife by plunging his sword straight into her heart. This practice will make his weapon stronger to defeat the rest of the Others and the Night King. If Jon Snow is the real Azor Ahai, then he has to kill Daenerys in "Game of Thrones" Season 8.
