K-drama fans, rejoice! Park Hae Jin, one of the most versatile South Korean actors in the entertainment industry, revealed what kind of character he would like to play in the future.
During his guest appearance on MBC's "Section TV," which aired on Nov. 19, Thursday, Park Hae Jin revealed he wants to play a bad boy role on his next project. In particular, he wants to play an immature guy who just loves playing around.
"I've played characters who had clearly defined goals," Park Hae Jin said during his guest appearance on MBC's "Section TV," as quoted by Soompi. "But I want to try a role that is a little looser. Should I say a playboy? A character who plays around," he added.
If he ends up playing a bad boy role, Park Hae Jin said he wants the project to be more comedic while still being melodramatic. His previously dramas were mostly action, crime, thriller, and romantic-comedy genres.
It can be recalled that Park Hae Jin started his acting career in KBS 2TV's "Famous Chil Princesses." Since then, he starred in several television projects and joined the cast of SBS variety show, "Family Outing."
He also landed supporting roles in popular TV series such as "Seoyoung, My Daughter (2012)," "My Love from the Star (2013)" and "Doctor Stranger (2014)." Soon afterward, he has been tapped to play the lead role in the 2014 police procedural drama series, "Bad Guys" (OCN).
Park Hae Jin, then, gained widespread fame after playing the role of Yoo Jung in tvN's "Cheese in the Trap." The 16-episode drama series, which was based on the webtoon of the same name written and illustrated by Soonkki, gained tremendous success in both South Korea and China.
As a matter of fact, "Cheese in the Trap" was sold to China for $125,000 per episode, becoming the most expensive cable series. It even topped Weibo's Korean-Japanese TV drama chart with over 1.9 billion views.
For his next project, Park Hae Jin would play four different characters - Kang Il Hoon, Dong Jin, Chen, and Michael - in Kim Jae Hong's upcoming drama series "Four Men." He will be joined by Lee Shi Ah ("Signal" and "The Unusual Family"), Lee Ki Woo ("Flower Boy Ramyun Shop" and "A Love to Kill"), and Kwak Si Yang ("Chicago Typewriter" and "Second To Last Love").
As of press time, no release date has been set for "Four Men" yet.
