It's a wrap for South Korean actor Lee Jong Suk. The 29-year-old wrapped up his Asia tour with a final stop on Sunday (Nov. 18) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, known as The Big Dome, in Manila, Philippines.
The said fan meeting event in the Philippines was attended by more than 21,000 international fans, according to his talent agency A-Man Project (via Yonhap News Agency). It was the last stop of his month-long "Asian Crank Up" tour.
During the fan meeting event, Lee Jong Suk shared random thoughts about his family, managing stress, and his thoughts for the coming year 2018. He also played a couple of games with some lucky fans and even sang along to songs from the official soundtrack of his latest drama, "While You Were Sleeping."
"I wonder why it took so long for me to come here," Lee Jong Suk told the fans attending the event. "It's great that the Philippines is the last (stop of the tour), and I think I'll be able to return home with a good memory (about the country)."
Lee Jong Suk also took the opportunity to express gratefulness over the passionate love he received, saying it will forever stay in his heart and memories. He also promised to meet his fans across the globe in a new project soon.
It can be recalled Lee Jong Suk debuted as a runway model in 2005, before making his official acting debut in 2010's "Prosecutor Princess." Since then, he played supporting roles in SBS' "Secret Garden," MBC's "High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged," and KBS 2TV's "My Prettiest Moments."
His breakout role came as a high school student in the popular KBS 2TV teen drama, "School 2013." He, then, played the male lead roles in 2013's "I Can Hear Your Voice," 2014's "Doctor Stranger," and 2016's "W - Two Worlds."
For his next project, Lee Jong Suk will play Kim Woo Jin, a genius playwright of the Joseon era, in SBS' upcoming drama "Hymn of Death" (tentative title). The character is a married man who goes to Japan to study literature.
There, he meets and falls in love with Yun Sim Deok (Shin Hye Sun), the country's first professional soprano. Due to their situation, they commit suicide together in 1926 by jumping off of a passenger ship en route from Japan to South Korea.
"Hymn of Death" is set to air on Nov. 27, Dec. 3, and Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. (KST) on SBS.
