"Weekly Idol" will once again undergo a major overhaul after its latest revamp earlier this year. MBC Every1 announced the show would go on a restructure next year, and its currents hosts are about to leave.
Lee Sang Min, Kim Shin Young, and Yoo Se Yoon are about to say goodbye to their viewers in January 2019. After being in the show for nine months, they are about to take their final bow in a couple of months, per Soompi.
It is not the first time that "Weekly Idol" will go on revamp. To recall, major changes happened in the show in April, when its longtime hosts Jung Hyung Don, Defconn, and producing director (PD) Kim Jin left. They had been in the variety series for seven years.
MBC chose Lee Sang Min, Kim Shin Young, and Yoo Se Yoon to replace Jung Hyung Don and Defconn in "Weekly Idol." Unfortunately, they are also set to leave the show, along with the main producer, writers, and other staff members.
However, neither "Weekly Idol" new host nor its final episode is yet to announce. "As the restructuring is planned for January of next year, the MCs who will be taking over have not yet been decided," the MBC Every1 said in the announcement. "It is also unknown when the final episode with the three MCs will air."
"Weekly Idol" is the famous variety show in South Korea since it launched in 2011. It is one of the long-running variety shows in the country.
Jung Hyung Don and Defconn hosted "Weekly Idol" Season 1. However, MBC Every1 announced their departure in February and revealed the new MCs for Season 2 - Roo'ra member Lee Sang-min and the comedians Yoo Se-Yoon and Kim Shin-young.
The recent episodes of "Weekly Idol" feature SHINee's Key and introduced six new stars. According to AllKpop, Key made a solo guest appearance on the show and revealed his incredible dance talent.
Key left everyone in awe when he took the "Weekly Idol" MCs challenge to do a dance cover of famous K-pop songs. The SHINee member perfected the moves of Black Pink's "DDU-DU DDU-DU," Celeb Five's "I Wanna Be a Celeb," Sunmi's "Gashina," and Taemin's "Move."
In another "Weekly Idol" episode, Lee Sang Min, Kim Shin Young, and Yoo Se Yoon introduced new six idols. Viewers couldn't deny their admiration for Dokyeom and Coco, while Chungha and Bambi also showed everyone that they have different chemistry.
"Weekly Idol" also introduced Mocha, who looked very similar to her mother, EXID's Junghwa. Sanche revealed his chic attitude with MONSTA X's Jooheon, and Dambi proudly displayed her friendship with Minhyuk.
