A lot of celebrities are getting involved in the parents' debt scandal in South Korea, and it now includes Rain. An online community user claimed that the 36-year-old star's mother and father allegedly owned them money and suddenly disappeared without paying their debt.

On November 26, the user posted a complaint about Rain's parents, dragging their names into a debt scandal. "Singer Rain's parents borrowed money from my parents and disappeared without paying off the debt," the post read.

According to Koreaboo, the event happened in 1988. At the time, the complainant's parents had a rice store while Rain's guardians ran a rice cake store. The latter borrowed about 17 million KRW in rice and 8 million KRW in cash, but never returned the money. It also claimed that they had a hard time getting their payment.

The user continued to say that after failing to collect their payment, they only asked Rain's parents to at least give back the principal. However, their pleas fell to deaf ears, and the family disappeared.

The accuser even claimed that they tried to reach Rain, but to no avail. The limitation period was already past due, so there was no other way to pay back the debt. The user revealed that its parents are over 60-years-old, and while the singer's family is living a comfortable life, they are suffering for not getting the 25 million KRW that supposedly their own money.

To prove the claim, the user even revealed photos of the promissory note relating to the debt. The image showed the two parties' names and signature, proving that Rain's parents borrowed money from the complainant's guardians.

On the other hand, Rain Company gave its official statement to address the issue where Rain's parents are getting involved. In a press release on November 27, it said that it is asking for people's understanding of releasing their reaction about the debt scandal a little late. It said it still has to verify the truth regarding the problem to perfectly give its response.

"We are currently in the middle of ascertaining whether what's being said is accurate," the statement read, per Soompi. "As what the other side is claiming has to do with [Rain's] mother who is deceased, we will quickly meet with those involved and check the existence of the debt and will do our best to come to a resolution."
