Fans will soon see Song Joong Ki back to the small screen. Aside from his returning television project, "Asadal Chronicles," on tvN, Song Hye Kyo's husband is also set to host a big event. CJ ENM officially announced on Monday, December 3, that Song Hye Kyo's husband will complete the star-studded host lineup of 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
CJ ENM earlier announced that Jung Hae In would host the host 2018 MAMA Premiere in Korea while Park Bo Gum would lead the 2018 MAMA Fans' Choice in Japan. It would be the third time that Song Joong Ki would be the event's MC after he led two of its ceremonies in 2012 and 2017, per Soompi.
The 2018 MAMA will take place in three different countries this year. The first event, 2018 MAMA Premiere, will start in Korea on December 10 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), lead by Jung Hae In. Here, the nominees will be fromis_9, (G)I-DLE, GWSN, HAON, Hyeongseop X Euiwoong, IZ*ONE, Kim Dong Han, LOONA, Nature, Stray Kids, THE BOYZ, and VINZEN, according to HelloKpop.
It will be then followed by 2018 MAMA Fans' Choice in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena on December 12 hosted by Park Bo Gum. Fans will see the performances of BTS, IZ*ONE, TWICE, MONSTA X and WANNA ONE in this country.
To cap off the festivities, Song Joong Ki will close 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong at AsiaWorld-Expo, Arena (AWE) on December 14. Song Hye Kyo's husband will take on the emcee duties to announce the winners at the awards ceremony.
Aside from South Korea's top actors and artists, pop icon Janet Jackson will also make an appearance at 2018 MAMA. CJ ENM will reveal other performers and nominees coming to the event in the next few days.
Fans can now start to vote for the 18 K-Pop Categories that include Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. Voting will run until Sunday, December 9. They can vote on MAMA's official website, www.2018mama.com.
Business Times earlier reported that Song Joong Ki is busy preparing for his return to the small screen with tvN's "Asadal Chronicles." Song Hye Kyo's husband will be reunited with his "Descendants of the Sun" co-star, Kim Ji Won. The show will also feature Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin.
Song Joong Ki will play the role of Eun Sum in the fantasy historical drama, "Asadal Chronicles." He is born with blue star energy that brings disaster to the fictional world of Asadal. The show will tell the story of love, harmony, and divergence. The new series will be out in 2019.
