Sad news awaits K-pop fans. SHINee member Minho, whose real name is Choi Min Ho, was treated in a hospital after suffering a facial injury while filming his upcoming movie, "The Battle of Jangsa-ri 9.15."
The sad news was confirmed by his managing label, SM Entertainment. The staff and crew reportedly rushed the 26-year-old singer-turned-actor to the hospital when he incurred an injury on his face while taping for a crucial scene in Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province for the upcoming movie.
"Minho suffered abrasions to the left side of his face after being hit with fragments from a special effects prop item," a representative from SM Entertainment said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "He was immediately taken to the emergency room and treated for his injuries, and we will be keeping an eye on his condition as he receives outpatient treatment."
Thankfully, the filming for "The Battle of Jangsa-ri 9.15" was already scheduled to take a three to four-day break to make way for a change in location. Thus, SHINee's Minho will surely get plenty of rest before he resumes filming.
In the upcoming action-packed war film, SHINee's Minho has been tapped to play the central character of a student soldier who, along with other 771 student soldiers, arrive in the province of Jangsari and block the supply route of the enemy.
SHINee's Minho will share the screen with actors Kim Myung Min ("Monstrum" and "Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead"), Kwak Si Yang ("Mirror of the Witch" and "Oh My Ghost"), Kim Sung Cheol, and American actress and model Megan Fox ("Transformers" and "Jennifer's Body").
Kim Myung Min will play a guerilla task force commander, while Kwak Si Yang will play a company commander named Park Chan Nyeon. Kim Sung Cheol, on the other hand, plays an ace student soldier, Ki Ha Ryun, who will be in conflict with Minho's characters.
Lastly, Megan Fox will transform into a war correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune, Marguerite Higgins, who covered the Korean War and called on the international community for assistance. She became the first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for Foreign Correspondence in 1951 with her book "War in Korea: The Report of a Woman Combat Correspondent."
"The Battle of Jangsa-ri 9.15" serves as a second installment of the 2016 war drama film, "Operation Chromite," which starred Lee Jung Jae, Lee Beom Soo, Jin Se Yeon, and international actor Liam Neeson. No release date has been set yet.
