BIG BANG's Seungri will say a poignant goodbye to his fans in the most special way. The 27-year-old singer and songwriter will be holding his final solo concert next year before he enlists in the military.
On Monday, Dec. 3, YG Entertainment (via Yonhap News Agency) announced BIG BANG member Seungri would be visiting several Asian countries early next year before he starts his two-year mandatory military service. The said solo concert will kick off on Jan. 12, 2019 in Hong Kong.
It will be followed by another show in Tokyo, Japan from Jan. 26 to Jan. 27, 2019 and Osaka, Japan from March 9 to March 10, 2019. The final show will be held at SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium located at the Olympic Park in eastern Seoul, from Feb. 16 to Feb. 17, 2019. More details will be announced on a later date.
After wrapping up the said solo concert, BIG BANG member Seungri will officially start his two-year mandatory military service. The exact date of enlistment, however, has yet to be announced.
Seungri is the last member of BIG BANG to serve in the military. Other members T.O.P. (whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun) and G-Dragon (whose real name is Kwon Ji Yong) entered the military in 2017, while Taeyang (whose real name is Dong Young Bae) and Daesung (whose real name is Kang Dae Sung) got enlisted in the first quarter of 2018.
Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung Hyun, debuted in 2006 as a member of BIG BANG. Outside of his success of more than a decade through the group, Seungri has also carved out a formidable solo career.
Seungri is the first member of BIG BANG to act in a musical and has also hosted MBC's music program "Show! Music Core" alongside fellow member Daesung. He also took his talents to the big screen by starring in 2009's "Why Did You Come to My House?," 2009's "Nineteen" and the 2016 Japanese action film "High & Low: The Movie."
In addition to that, Seungri also appeared as a professional judge on the 2016 Chinese TV program, "Girls Fighting" (also known as "PRODUCE 101"). He also produced the song "36 Tricks of Love" for the same show, a remake of the Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai's song under the same title.
Then in 2018, Seungri released his first Korean studio album "The Great Seungri," with "1, 2, 3!" as its title track. The album debuted at number 1 on Gaon Chart.
