Christmas came early for K-pop fans. The documentary concert film of popular girl group TWICE, dubbed "Twiceland," is officially coming to theaters across the United States and Canada.
It came to light when film distributor CGV (via The Korea Herald) officially announced that "Twiceland" would premiere in selected theaters across US and Canada on Dec. 7. It will be released through ScreenX format, a multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience in theaters.
"Twiceland" follows the girl group's - Tzuyu (whose real name is Chou Tzuyu), Chaeyoung (whose real name is Son Chae Young), Dahyun (whose real name is Kim Da Hyun), Mina (whose real name is Myoui Mina), Jihyo (whose real name is Park Ji Hyo), Sana (whose real name is Minatozaki Sana), Momo (whose real name is Hirai Momo), Jeongyeon (whose real name is Yoo Jung Yeon) and Nayeon (whose real name is Im Na Yeon) - splendid performances and behind-the-scenes moments during their concerts in Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia earlier this year.
"The movie shot scenes of the actual concerts in the panoramic ScreenX format to make audiences feel as if they're there watching the concerts," the group's management agency, JYP Entertainment, said in a previous interview with Yonhap News Agency. "It will provide a new movie-going experience for audiences."
"Twiceland" will also feature 17 songs and performances, including their hit songs such as "TT," "Signal," "Knock Knock," "Cheer Up" and "Like OOH-AHH." The complete list of selected theaters is as follows: Irvine Spectrum Center, Thornton Place, Hacienda Crossings, Atlantic Station, Union Square, South Beach, Pinnacle, Richmond Hill, Winston Churchill, Coquitlam, and Fairfax Town Center.
Fans may also watch "Twiceland" in Fresno Stadium 21, Hacienda Crossings Stadium 20, Red Rock 16, LA LIVE 14, Kaufman Astoria, Bakersfield Stadium 14, Natomas Marketplace 16, Medlock Crossing Stadium, Village Square, and University Town Center (mixed shows).
In addition to "Twiceland," the popular K-pop girl group will drop a special album on Dec. 12 as a gift to their fans. The upcoming album, entitled "The Year of Yes," will feature nine new songs including the title track "The Best Thing I Did This Year" which was composed and written by J.Y. Park, Park Ji Min, and Full8loom.
TWICE is also busy gearing up for their much-awaited performance at the historic Japanese year-end music show called "Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle)." They are the first K-pop girl group in history to appear on the said music show for two years in a row.
