The former Queen of Naboo and the mother of Luke and Leia has finally spoken about her rumored appearance in the highly-anticipated "Star Wars: Episode 9." Natalie Portman, who was part of "Star Wars: Episode 1 to 3," confirmed that she is not going to be in the new movie.

The actress sat down with Buzzfeed News to establish that she is not making a comeback in the franchise despite the talks.  She said that the stories floating around aren't true since no one has told her about reprising her role as Padme.

Fans will recall that Padme died while giving birth to her twins in the final moments of "Star Wars: Episode 3." But her character has lived on in the "Star Wars" graphic novels and comic books, where her background and history has been fleshed out.

It's also not impossible to bring Padme back since movies can take cinematic license and resurrect dead characters, especially in a fantasy saga like "Star Wars." Despite all the possibilities, Portman was even surprised to learn that she could be in the new film because no one has approached her about it.

Last June, Mark Hamill, who plays the grown-up Luke Skywalker in the franchise, expressed disappointment when he missed the chance to meet his movie mom in person. Portman was visiting the set of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" one time but Hamill was not there because was done filming his scenes, according to director Rian Johnson on Twitter.

On the other hand, the late Carrie Fisher, who played the adult Princess Leia, confirmed in 2015 that she had met her on-screen mother some times. Portman's agent, Bryan Lourd, is the father of Fisher's daughter, Billie, and they have seen each other in social events.

Meanwhile, fans of the franchise are looking forward to the first release of the teaser to "Star Wars: Episode 9." The culmination of the trilogy is expected to be out in theaters on December 2019, but no one has a clue on what the final movie will be about. Even Lucasfilm and Disney have not revealed the last film's actual title.

But Hamill said that he was on the set for about a week to film some scenes over the summer. However, he didn't clarify if his participation in "Star Wars: Episode 9" relates to flashback scene or if his character has become a Force Ghost just like Yoda in the earlier movies, as fans have speculated.
