Fans celebrate the news of Carrie Fisher's appearance on "Star Wars: Episode IX" to give a proper conclusion to General Leia Organa's story. As Lucasfilm revealed it would use the late actress' old footages to complete her scenes, her brother Todd Fisher confirmed there would be a lot of video clips to use.
In an appearance on "Good Morning America," Todd revealed there would be "a lot of minutes of footage" to use in "Star Wars: Episode IX." "This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline," he said, per Comicbook. The unused clips are said to be a perfect fit for the movie's tale. It would even look like Carrie Fisher was alive, and the scenes were only shot yesterday.
Carrie Fisher unexpectedly died after she finished filming "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." As her story as General Leia has yet to come to an end, fans worry how J.J. Abrams will put a conclusion to her part.
To recall, fans saw General Leia stayed with the Resistance as she tried her best to urge Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) to lead the organization. So, there are predictions "Star Wars: Episode IX" opening crawl will reveal General Leia's sudden demise.
"Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us," J.J. Abrams said about Carrie Fisher's role in "Star Wars: Episode IX." The director also said they would never recast her role or even use CGI as the franchise did in "Rouge One."
Fortunately, with Billie Lourd's support and blessing, J.J. Abrams and the rest of the crew found a way to honor Carrie Fisher's legacy and role as General Leia in "Star Wars: Episode IX." They are going to use her unseen and unused footages from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Aside from Billie Lourd's support, Todd also approved how J.J. Abrams would make it look Carrie Fisher is alive in "Star Wars: Episode IX." Although the actress' brother admitted he couldn't tell anything about the film's details, he teased they were thrilled of what would be done.
But according to Inverse, it remains unclear how long the footages Lucasfilm are going to use will run in "Star Wars: Episode IX." It may only last for minutes while the movie will probably take two hours to finish.
There are also possibilities Lucasfilm will utilize an "unused General Leai-centric plotline." There are reports the studio allegedly "wrote and filmed" an added side-plot of Carrie Fisher's character building her own super-weapon called the Warhammer, which the Resistance would use against the First Order. As the company has yet to confirm anything about the film's plotline, fans still have to wait for the movie's release to see its full story on December 20, 2019.
