For Nintendo, the focus right now is the Switch. The game console from the Japanese company has so far resuscitated its faltering hopes, most of which are tied up to the Wii U.

Production for the Wii U ceased back in January 2017, unfortunately, branded as one of the poorest performing home consoles in the market. Prior to its demise, the Switch was introduced two months before Nintendo pulled the plug on the device that made its debut on November 2012, Game Spot said.

For some reason, there are still folks who are looking for a brand new Wii U in the market. A plausible reason is because the Nintendo game console does have a couple of exclusive games on its end such as "Super Mario World 3D World" and "Xenoblade Chronicles X."

There are still some game consoles available from online sites like Amazon and eBay. But for those who prefer a brand new unit, it uncharacteristically will come at a cost. This was discovered by Twitter user RSGabe who spotted Wii U console bundles being sold for nearly $800, Nintendo Soup said.

A look over at Amazon shows that a Deluxe 32 GB model that includes the "Nintendo Land" game title retails for $789. There is another deal for a package that includes a "New Super Mario Bros. U +New Super Luigi U bundle" priced at $879. For those looking for a basic set, there is a white 8 GB console with no pack-ins available for $729.

It would be best to note that these deals are for brand new units. Folks who don't mind getting a refurbished or second-hand unit can find some also on Amazon and eBay. The price range is between $100 to $140.

The whole thing becomes a puzzle for most although there are some who may be looking for certain games available only on the Wii U. Collectors could also be interested in getting one, similar to old game consoles that have some would look for after some years such as the Super Family Computer fame.

For Nintendo, this may not matter as they move on from the Wii era. There were games that included exclusive ones that did not really kick off. Then again, the choice of games to be played still depends on the gaming community who have grown fond of the "Super Mario" and "Legend of Zelda" games. Seeing the Japanese company producing limited edition units in the future may be possible, depending on whether gamers demand.
