January is the start of the brand new year to all people. For Pokemon Go gamers, this month also means a new adventure to look forward.

The first Pokemon Go Community Day for this month is set for Saturday, January 12. Just like in the previous events, players will have a chance to capture rare Pokemon and earn some generous in-game bonuses.

What to expect on Pokemon Go January 2019 Community Day?

Pokemon Go Community Day usually runs for only three hours. According to GameSpot, the Pokemon Go developer Niantic designates only one featured Pokemon for each Community Day. This would mean that particular Pokemon will appear often in the wild. The featured Pokemon for January's Community Day is Totodile.

Usually, Niantic adds Shiny variant of the featured Pokemon during Community Day. So there's a higher chance to capture a Shiny Totodile in Go during this month's event. According to the same source, you can evolve Totodile into its final form - Feraligatr.

Pokemon Go January 2019 Community Day Schedule

In America, the event will start from 11 AM - 2 PM PT; Greenland, the event will start from 2 PM - 5 PM ET; In Europe, Middle East, and Africa, event starts from 10 AM - 1 PM UTC; and in Asia-Pacific, the event starts from 12 PM - 3 PM JST (January 13).

Just like in previous Community Day events, Niantic will give bonuses. For this month, incubators will be four times as effective as normal. This means is easier for the players to hatch Eggs at a quarter of the distance they would typically require. Apart from that, any Lure modules you will use remain activated for three hours, instead of standard 30 minutes.

Adventure Sync Hatchathon is currently on-going and will run until Tuesday, January 15. This event gives players a chance to earn extra Candy and Stardust for hatching Eggs as they can receive twice the normal amount of Stardust and Candy for each Pokemon Egg they hatch. Nianctic said its players may receive 5 and 10 km Eggs, which can hatch into Pokemon like Elekid, Magby, and Chansey. They can get these Eggs by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops and Gyms.

The Adventure Sync is one of the features introduced in 2018. If you enable this feature in the Setting Menu, you can track the distance you've walked even when it's idle. As part of Adventure Sync Hatchathon Event, players can earn twice the normal amount of Stardust and Candy for each Pokemon Egg they hatch.
