It's official! "Game of Thrones" fans should brace themselves for more exciting stories to come as HBO just announced the full cast and director for its highly anticipated prequel.
Earlier this week, fans went into a frenzy after learning that the much-awaited "Game of Thrones" prequel series is moving full-speed ahead. The pilot season will be helmed by British television director SJ Clarkson, whose credits include the series "The Defenders," "Jessica Jones" and Netflix's "Orange is the New Black."
She will also serve as the show's executive producer along with showrunner Jane Goldman, novel author George R.R. Martin, Jim Danger Gray, James Farrell, Daniel Zelman, Vince Gerardis and Chris Symes as co-executive producer.
The much-awaited "Game of Thrones" prequel will star Naomi Watts ("21 Grams"), Josh Whitehouse ("Poldark"), Denise Gough ("Monday"), Naomi Ackie ("Doctor Who"), Sheila Atim ("Harlots"), Jamie Campbell Bower ("Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"), Georgie Henley ("The Chronicles of Narnia"), Ivanno Jeremiah ("Humans"), Alex Sharp ("How to Talk to Girls at Parties"), and Toby Regbo ("Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald").
In-depth details about what roles the above-mentioned actors are playing remain unknown. As for the plot, the prequel's pilot season will take place roughly 5,000 years before the events of "Game of Thrones." Thus, it is safe to say that the prequel will not feature any dragons at all.
"The series chronicles the world's descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour," HBO said in a press statement. "From the horrifying secrets of Westeros's history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, only one thing is for sure: It's not the story we think we know."
In the meantime, the eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" will finally premiere in April. The upcoming season will feature the Great War between the people of Westeros and the White Walkers. Fans will also witness Lady Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Queen Daenerys Targaryen, also known as Dany and Daenerys Stormborn (Emilia Clarke), meet for the first time.
"Game of Thrones" season 8 will see the return of Kit Harington as Jon Snow / Aegon Targaryen, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jamie Lannister, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth, Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark, and Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont.
