A new leak has spoiled the secrecy surrounding Steve Trevor's return in Wonder Woman 1984 as much as the cast try to keep mum on plot details. New details have emerged about how Steve is alive, and it is all thanks to Diana Prince.

Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor, has been confirmed to return in the Wonder Woman sequel even after his character's death in the first film. Fans shrugged this off as probably another flashback scene, but a source claimed Steve does indeed return from the dead.

Steve is alive because Diana asks that he be resurrected. She asks Maxwell Lord, rumored as Pedro Pascal's character, for help in bringing him back in exchange for providing him protection. Lord happens to be looking for magical artifacts that would grant him godlike powers, and he stumbles on Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wiig) and convinces her to help him.

However, Minerva gets cursed by an artifact and becomes Cheetah. Her transformation puts Lord's life at risk, so he asks Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to protect him. In exchange, he agrees to bring Steve back from the dead.

This new information may be delving into spoiler territory although others claim this is merely a rumor. It is interesting though that this leak coincides with previous reports about Pascal's mysterious character being involved with Steve's resurrection. Fans are under the assumption that the former Game of Thrones actor will play the DC villain who manipulates Diana under the pretense of helping her bring back Steve. Likewise, in the comic books, Lord, a powerful businessman, helped bring Steve back to life.

Regardless, the fact remains that Diana's love interest is back in Wonder Woman 1984. Leaked set photos further confirmed his appearance in the film. The images hint that Steve is resurrected early on in the movie as he and Diana spend time with each other. It would be interesting to see how Steve's fate pans out this time given that he is eventually killed and this haunts Diana in modern times.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the 1980s at the height of the Cold War between the Soviet Union, and the U.S. Diana faces new threats in the name of Cheetah and Lord. Filming for the sequel wrapped up last month and fans still have more than a year's wait to see the film in theaters. The sequel is set for release on June 5, 2020.
