Rick and Morty Season 4 is not airing on Netflix. Instead, the animated series will air exclusively in the United Kingdom.

The anticipated sequel will air on Channel 4 as part of an exclusive deal between the network and the show's home studio Adult Swim. Ian Katz, Channel 4's Director of Programmes, confirmed the new partnership in a statement.

"Rick and Morty is one of the most anarchic, ingenious and original shows around and the breakthrough animated hit of recent years. I'm thrilled that it's coming to Channel 4 and E4."

Likewise, Channel 4 confirmed the release of several Adult Swim contents on All 4. These include The Eric Andre Show, Robot Chicken, Mostly 4 Millennials, The Venture Bros, Tim, and Eric Awesome Show, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Karl Warner, E4 controller said that the acquisition is ideal for the network. He credits Adult Swim's amazing mix of anarchic comedy and original ideas as best suited for E4's evolution.

No release date for the Rick and Morty Season 4 premiere has been announced yet. Channel 4 promises the previous three seasons of Rick and Morty will air on sister channel E4 starting in February.

Given the show's propensity to release new seasons after a very long time, years to be accurate, fans can likely expect Season 4 to come out in early Summer. It has been two years since Season 3, but co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland might just surprise their fans again with the release, just like what they did with the April 17 premiere of the third season.

The show's official Twitter account also teased the arrival of Season 4 with a few clips of the titular lead characters taking on different shapes. The teaser sees the scientist Rick and his grandson Morty in a fight against each other as they transform into aliens and spaceships to defeat one another.

Rick and Morty has so far been streamed on Netflix and Adult Swim. The three previous seasons are still available to watch on Netflix. It is unclear following the Channel 4 deal if these seasons will pull out of the giant streaming service.

As for consolation, fans can hold on to the fact that Adult Swim has promised to release several more episodes of Rick and Morty. Harmon and Roiland announced that the studio had commissioned 70 more episodes, some of which are in Season 4, although they have yet to announce a release date for these episodes.
