Fans have been patiently waiting for Song Joong Ki's return to the small screen after taking a hiatus following his marriage with Song Hye Kyo. As the 33-year-old actor is about to be seen in the new tvN series "Asadal," he gave an update about the show and wished everyone a Happy New Year on his fan café.
"Long time no see," Song Joong Ki greeted his fans, via Soompi. The "Descendants of the Sun" star then talked about the production of "Asadal," and said they are now in the middle of filming. As the weather in Korea is still cold, he went on to say the cast and crew are working really hard to get it done.
"But the story is really fun and it's turning out well, so we're all cheering up and filming well," Song Joong Ki continued to say. He then recalled the promise he told his fans when he said he would see them all again with a good project during his last fan meeting. Although there are times he felt tired and exhausted because of his hectic filming schedules, he finds strength in the vow he made.
Song Joong Ki added he is working with "great staff members," so he is confident "Asadal' would be a good show. "I'm working hard to create a never-before-seen character, so please wait a little while," he said.
He then remembers the time runs and feels like it will pass by more quickly when Lunar New Year passes. He then hoped everyone would spend this special event with their family and loved ones. He also advised them to take care of themselves and not to catch a cold with the cold weather. "Happy New year to all of our lovely KiAile [Song Joong Ki's official fandom]. I always thank you and sincerely love you," he concluded.
Business Times recently reported the "Sky Castle" actor Jo Byeong Gyu would join Song Joong Ki in "Asadal." A source from tvN confirmed the news.
Jo Byeong Gyu will take the role of Satenic in "Asadal." Although tvN has yet to give details about his character, he is said to appear in the latter part of the new television series.
"Asadal" is fantasy drama set in the mythical city of Asadal. It is the capital of the Gojoseon kingdom. Song Joong Ki will resolve the issue about love, conflict, and work in harmony with the residents of Asadal as it grows and gives birth to a real hero. The show is co-written by Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon and directed by Kim Won Suk.
