The episode this week, The Donation Oscillation, is the beginning of the end for the hit sitcom, according to Comicbook. Prior to the premiere of the 12th season in September 2018, it was already announced that it will be the final season of the series. The news surprised many fans, particularly since the sitcom is very popular and dominating its rating slot each week.
But, although fans and some cast members of The Big Bang Theory were disappointed that the series is nearing its end, not everyone is sad and disappointed about it. For instance, Jim Parsons - who plays Sheldon Cooper - admitted he was ready to move on and welcome new opportunities.
"It's both as complex and as simple as just feeling innately that it was time," Parsons also said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He revealed that he sees no negative reason to stop doing the series and he felt like they've been doing it for many years now. He also thinks there's nothing left on the table. So, they couldn't keep doing it as they've already chew all the meat in the bone.
The good news for fans is that even though The Big Bang Theory is coming to an end, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the end of the road. The legacy of the show will reportedly continue in the spinoff series Young Sheldon. One of the CBS executives said they are open to doing more spinoffs in the future, especially if show creator Chuck Lorre is interested in doing it as well.
Meanwhile, the new episode on Thursday, February 7, shows Leonard is (Johnny Galecki) trying to evade his wife Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) advances while she tries to seduce her husband. The situation is challenging for Leonard - who already agreed to donate sperm to an infertile couple - that he sneaks into Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) apartment.
