John Boyega has become one of the most popular stars, thanks to his role in the Pacific Rim and Star Wars franchise. But, the actor's breakout role was from the movie Attack The Block in 2011, where he confirmed he's ready for a possible sequel, if ever.
Recently, Boyega shared a photo from the movie on his Instagram account, which seemed to be out of the blue. This prompted one fan to ask if there will be a sequel, and the actor then replied he's ready to go back to Peckham - a neighborhood in London where the movie was filmed - ASAP if supporters want it, Comicbook reported.
Attack The Block is a sci-fi movie which is about an alien invasion that erupts in a small neighborhood. Due to this unexpected invasion, neighborhood kids were forced to band together with unlikely neighbors to fight back against the threat from aliens. While the film just took in $5.8 million worldwide, it gained a passionate the following years since after its release and also sits at 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Although the movies had not made a huge audience impact when it was released, Boyega and film director Joe Cornish have had several ideas on how to expand it for almost a decade. During the film screening in 2011, the director said the actor was a driving force in creating ways to expand the franchise.
Cornish revealed Boyega had an image of a huge alien attack, and the attack in the Attack The Block was just the first wave and there's still another wave of alien invasion. The actor also described the image of his character [Moses] to the director, saying he's leading a huge whole army of hood kids across the Thames. Cornish added Boyega had an image of Moses on a police horse, like the police in London who have those horses they use in riots. Definitely, the actor had so many ideas on his head.
The director admitted Boyega could really contribute on expanding the franchise. He also said at that time that they had approaches for a remake and a sequel.
"We've had approaches for a TV show to spin off it," Cornish revealed. However, it's too early back then to tell if there will be indeed a follow-up movie, but the director said he wanted to do something different in the sequel.
