Ryan Murphy started to roll out a few details about the upcoming "American Horror Story" Season 9. As FX promised that there would be "may more cycles" of the show, new information about the new installment is now emerging.
FX CEO John Landgraf revealed Ryan Murphy already shared his idea for "American Horror Story" Season 9 with the team at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. However, he didn't reveal any further details about the matter. So, here is some of the little information about the upcoming series.
Emma Roberts will return to "American Horror Story" Season 9. Fans have seen the 27-year-old star in four seasons of the show, including the recent crossover "Apocalypse," per the Hollywood Reporter.
So far, Emma Roberts is the only confirmed returning cast member of "American Horror Story" Season 9. She will be paired with the newcomer and Olympic freestyle skier and silver medalist Gus Kenworthy.
Although Ryan Murphy has yet to reveal other cast members that will join "American Horror Story" Season 9, there are theories Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will also return. The two stars have made their appearance every cycle. So, it may be safe to assume fans will once again see them back in the series.
Meanwhile, regarding "American Horror Story" Season 9's plot, Ryan Murphy has been known for being mum about new season's details until it is close to its release date. They even produce fake trailers to deceive fans.
However, they cannot control fans from creating theories and assumptions of what may be happening in "American Horror Story" Season 9. According to NME, the most popular fan theory is that all of "AHS" seasons are based on the nine circles of hell of Dante's Inferno. "Murder House" is Limbo, "Hotel" is Gluttony, "Freak Show" is Greed, "Roanoke" is Anger, "Cult" is Heresy, "Asylum" is Fraud, and "Coven" is Treachery.
To add fuel to the fire, Ryan Murphy even shared the same theory on Instagram and wrote a caption, "Interesting." If the recent "Apocalypse" stands for Violence because of the many bloody scenes, then it may be safe to assume that "American Horror Story" Season 9 will have the theme of Lust.
Alternatively, some fans believe "American Horror Story" Season 9 will have an alien theme as the previous season revealed some clues and connections to "Alien" and "2001: A Space Odyssey." Fans should only take these assumptions with a grain of salt as either FX or Ryan Murphy has yet to confirm the new season's plot. The show is expected to be out in September, although its premiere date is yet to be revealed.
