Fans are about to see their favorite ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo back on the small screen in a major television network. News emerges that the 21-year-old star will be leading a new historical drama opposite Shin Se Kyung.
According to Soompi, a source revealed Cha Eun Woo allegedly chose MBC's new drama titled "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryun" (literal title) as his new project after "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" on JTBC in 2018. It will be the first time he will be seen in a major network's miniseries, playing his first ever lead role.
However, Cha Eun Woo's agency Fantagio Entertainment revealed its talent is still reviewing the offer to take star MBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama. "Cha Eun Woo received an offer for 'Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung' and is positively reviewing the offer at the moment," it said.
If ever Cha Eun Woo accepts the offer, he will be playing the role of Prince Yi Rim in "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung." Despite being a prince, he is living the lives of a lonely guy who never has a girlfriend, let alone goes on a date, and a famous romance novelist who holds the Hayang City at his hands.
While trying to live two lives, he will then meet the female historian Goo Hae Ryung, who can be possibly played by Shin Se Kyung. There is also news that the 28-year-old actress is in talks to be Cha Eun Woo's leading lady in "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung." A source from her agency confirmed she, too, is considering and reviewing the role.
"Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung" is about the 19th-century women who are not allowed to write historical records because of their gender. The drama will tackle outdated prejudice when it comes to being a lady, social status, and the value of change. Aside from featuring female intern historians' stories of survival at the palace, it will also show the blossoming romance of Prince Yi Rim and the historian Goo Hae Ryung.
Aside from "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung," Cha Eun Woo is also busy promoting with his group, ASTRO. The band is set to travel around the world for the "The 2nd ASTROAD Tour - Star Light" fan meeting, per Hellokpop. The boys will be visiting seven cities in Asia and the United States.
MBC has yet to reveal "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung" official release date, but it is set to be out sometime in July. So, fans still have to wait for more updates about Cha Eun Woo and Shin Se Kyung's new drama.
