While The Big Bang Theory is nearing its end, The Conners season 2 might be returning soon. But, don't expect John Galecki will jump from The Big Bang Theory to The Conners when it's over as the actor revealed he is not planning to return as a regular cast in the ABS series.
Galecki, who reprised his role as David Healy in the Roseanne spinoff series' season 1 finale, isn't planning to commit full-time in another series as soon as his CBS sitcom wraps up this coming May. In an interview via TVLine, Galecki said he needs a little bit of space to be a series regular again. He added that such career congestion is a "fortunate problem" to have.
Galecki also said he prefers to reprise his role of David regularly, like what he did in Roseanne revival and The Conners season 1. The actor noted he wanted to visit and he considers it as his second home.
His infrequent appearance on Roseanne and The Conners is probably due to his role on The Big Bang Theory - it does make his schedule a little bit complicated. But since the CBS sitcom is ending soon, it's possible he reappears to The Conners season 2. Also, the ending of the season 1 hints that Galecki will probably return as David in the future.
The character returned to the series during "We Continue to Touch" after he announced he broke up with his girlfriend Blue (Juliette Lewis), and then he confessed that he's still in love with his ex-wife. Because of this confession, Darlene (Sara Gilbert) rejected her boyfriend Ben's (Jay R. Ferguson) initiation to move with him to Chicago. They agreed to work together and keep a long distance relationship.
Gilbert admitted after the finale that she's hoping Galecki will be back for more episodes so they could explore the love triangle in The Conners season 2. The actress also said the actor loves doing the show, and she loves having him as well. But, she doesn't want to speak for him, though she's hoping he'll do more episodes.
And while The Conners season 2 has not been officially renewed, the ABC sitcom might be coming back soon. The Roseanne spinoff concluded its season 1 in January, and it was ABC's No. 1 comedy series (average 1.6 rating) - placing No. 2 overall behind medical drama series Grey's Anatomy.
