Paul Wesley has returned to Mystic Falls. The Vampire Diaries star has a big part in the 13th episode of Legacies, which airs on Thursday, March 7, at 9:00 p.m. on The CW.
The actor, however, will not be on camera for Legacies season 1 episode 13. Instead, he's directing this episode that will feature his old friend and former co-star Matthew Davis (Alaric).
Legacies season 1 episode 13 will entail a road trip as Alaric, Hope (played by Daniel Rose Russell) and Kaleb (Chris Lee) search for Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), MG (Quinn Fouse) and Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith). The group was supposed to visit MG's parents but something happened to Landon, MG and Rafael, who woke up without any memory of what happened to them.
Wesley talked about directing Legacies season 1 episode 13 with TV Guide in December 2018. He said he had a great time working with the teens and Davis again. He also relayed it felt good to be back on the old set of his former series in Atlanta.
Legacies is a spinoff The Originals, which was also spun from The Vampire Diaries. The show centers on young and powerful kids with the skills of vampires, werewolves and witches. The kids get their training from the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where Alaric is the headmaster.
But Wesley also said he's not eager to jump back on playing a vampire again. So, fans of Legacies might not expect to see him reprise his role as Stefan Salvatore in this spinoff series.
"I think directing is a completely different ballgame," Wesley said. "It's something that I truly love. I certainly won't be stepping in front of the camera as anything vampire-related but behind the camera," he added.
The actor recently finished the first season of Tell Me A Story for CBS All Access, where he plays the anti-hero. He's also set to star in Confessions of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher and he'll be in the adaptation of Possessed, which is based on a Korean drama series.
In the past, Wesley had a hand in directing five episodes of The Vampire Diaries. He also directed an episode of Shadowhunters and Roswell, New Mexico. Suffice to say, Wesley has been quite busy after his vampire series ended.
Meanwhile, after Legacies season 1 episode 13 airs, the show has three more episodes to go and the big finale is set for March 28, as per The Futon Critic listing. The CW has renewed the series for a second season back in January, along with another freshman series, Charmed.
