Preacher season 4 is still actively filming. Set for a 10-episode release on the AMC, the show has apparently moved production in Australia after three seasons of working in the U.S.
AMC president David Madden confirmed the moved and the show's renewal in a statement, as per TV Line. However, the change in location will not affect the quality of the series since Australia resembles the topography of the United States in many ways.
Another change in the production of Preacher season 4 is the promotion of Tyson Ritter as a series regular. The actor plays Humperdoo, a descendant of Jesus, who had a total of five episode appearances on Preacherso far.
In the original comic book source from Garth Enis and Steve Dillon, Humperdoo was only a minor character. Deadline reported, however, that he will have a significant storyline in the upcoming season thus he will be in most of season 4. Apparently, the organization known as The Grail wants Humperdoo to be front and center in their planned apocalypse.
But Humperdoo is a complicated character who is not right in the head. He is the result of a deliberate inbreeding so that Jesus Christ's lineage remains pure and intact.
Meanwhile, Preacher season 4 is expected to pick up immediately from where the events of last season left off. Cassidy (played by Joe Gilgun) still remains holed up at the headquarters of The Grail, where he is tortured and mistreated.
Jesse (played by Dominic Cutter) is in pursuit of God (played by Mark Harelik) but then the latter talks to Tulip (played by Ruth Negga) to let her deal with Jesse. God wants Tulip to convince Jesse not to seek him out anymore but Tulip refuses to help.
On top of all of this, Tulip has to deal with neo-Nazis trying to save Hitler (played by Noah Taylor). But Hitler has apparently overtaken Hell as The Saint of Killers has eliminated Satan.
AMC has yet to announced the return date for Preacher season 4. The supernatural drama series usually airs on the cable channel every June thus it might be easy to assume the fourth season will also come out in the same month.
However, with the production changes, Preacher season 4's release date may also be different this time around. It could arrive in late summer or early fall.
Meanwhile, Preacher season 4 is also expected to stream on Amazon Prime's streaming platform. The site usually drops the episodes a day after the airing on cable.
