Jenna Dewan will be back in the upcoming episode of The Resident season 2. Her character, Julian Booth, is confirmed to be alive but the actress is likely to exit the show after this episode.
In The Resident season 2 episode 18, which airs Monday, March 25, on FOX, Julian returns to the hospital to give a talk. As seen in the teaser, she comes back as if nothing has happened, but her presence surprises Devon (played by Manish Dayal), who's been wondering all this time if she's still alive.
Julian will have some explaining to do to Devon and the rest of Chastain. Has she been hiding out of fear or to recover from her injuries? Devon has the right to know the truth given how much he cares for her.
But The Resident season 2 episode 18 will likely be the last appearance for Dewan. It looks like they are finally wrapping up this Quovadis storyline with her exit as she is no longer listed in the episodes after Monday's airing.
Dewan was cast in The Resident season 2 for a recurring role only, as per Variety. She won't likely be a series regular because she has another series coming up. The actress is part of the musical drama Mixtape for Netflix. The has been filming since the streaming platform confirmed it has a 10-episode order.
Mixtape was supposed to originally go to FOX, The Resident's home. However, according to Deadline, the producers tried to make a deal with streamers when the pilot episode did not make the cut on FOX.
Dewan and the rest of the cast were asked back, and production proceeded. This also explains why the actress was absent for most of The Resident season 2.
Meanwhile, this Monday's episode will also have Conrad (played by Matt Czurchry) and Alex (played by Miles Gaston Villanueva) helping out a gymnast. The teaser hints, however, that Conrad may finally be getting a sense of Alec liking Nic (Emily VanCamp). Will this spark a feeling of jealousy and will this affect their professional relationship?
Nic, on the other hand, will have a lot to deal with in this episode as her estranged father (played by Corbin Bernsen) resurfaces in her life. Viewers will finally get a background story on her life.
Meanwhile, FOX has not yet renewed The Resident for season 3 as of this writing. According to TV Line, the drama is the fourth most popular drama series on the network and the third among its target audience so there might be a good chance it could come back next season.
