Madam Secretary season 5 has recently completed filming, but there's still no clear word from the network if the show is getting a sixth season. Thus, people who love the series have begun a campaign on social media calling on CBS to renew Madam Secretary for season 6.

In a post on Twitteractor Erich Bergen (as Blake Moran) confirmed that the last day of filming for Madam Secretary season 5  was last March 15. Bergen also encouraged his followers to start a new campaign because it might be the last time viewers will get to watch the show.

According to TV Line, the ratings for Madam Secretary season 5 haven't been encouraging. The show averages 5.5 million in total viewers every week, but unfortunately, it is the last in the ranking of all of CBS' 16 dramas.

The show is currently in the bubble as CBS has yet to decide if Madam Secretary should be cut or retained from next season's schedule. It might, however, get a rebirth as Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (played by Téa Leoni) announced she's running for U.S. president in a previous episode. Wouldn't the viewers want a sixth season to see how this will play out?

CBS might likely grant renewal for Madam Secretary for a sixth and final season if this is the case. Fans will likely be okay with this as it will give the series enough time to tie up loose ends and wrap the stories for each character, especially Elizabeth's future as the potential leader of the United States.

Meanwhile, Madam Secretary season 5 still has three more episodes to go before the show bows out for the season. The next episode, airing Sunday, March 31, will feature a NATO-sponsored assassination attempt against an old friend of Elizabeth. The episode, titled "Ready," will feature guest stars Tracee Chimo Pallero (as Nina Cummings), Piotr Adamczyk (as President Jozef Demko), Clifton Davis (as Ephraim Ware) and Johanna Day (as Ellen Hill).

Madam Secretary season 5 episode 18 will also feature Alison (played by Katherine Herzer), who begins dating the son of her mother's rival in politics. How will the McCords deal with this situation?

Meanwhile, fans of the CBS drama might be wondering when all episodes of Madam Secretary season 5 would be ready on Netflix. According to What's On Netflix, the streaming platform usually launches the series' latest season by late June or early July, and the same schedule could be expected for the fifth season.
