George R.R. Martin remains tight-lipped about the developments of the much-awaited novel titled The Winds of Winter, which is the sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It has been more than eight years since the veteran novelist announced that he is already working on the tome. However, up until now, it seems like TWOW has not been completed yet.

While some avid followers of the book series remain thrilled about the highly-anticipated novel, a few are already losing hope that George R.R. Martin would be able to finish The Winds of Winter book. In the most recent interview of GRRM, he revealed that he is still working on the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire book. The 70-year-old author even stated that he got disappointed with himself after he failed to keep ahead of the HBO's Game of Thrones television series.

"if you look at... oh god, I have thousands of pages left to write and they have to be great or everyone will be mad at me, ummm... then it becomes very intimidating," George R.R. Martin said when asked about The Winds of Winter novel. "at one time I was having a huge pressure on myself to keep ahead of the show, and uh... I failed...when I recognized that I had lost that battle, um... (fiddles with hands, lost for words for a few seconds) I don't know, heh heh...." he added.

Because of this, some fans have become doubtful about the future of the book. One fan suggested that George R.R. Martin might not be able to finish the entire series because the "show is doing it for him." The same fan added that, if he was the author of The Winds of Winter, he would be disheartened knowing that the Game of Thrones series has "made his work available to more humans than will ever read his books," adding that his motivation would have died a long time ago.

George R.R. Martin has yet to comment on his fan's recent remarks. However, the brain behind the Game of Thrones series has, previously, assured fans that he would try his best to finish the much-awaited novel. In fact, he also revealed, a few weeks ago, The Winds of Winter is his number one priority at the moment. GRRM even refused to make a cameo appearance on the final episodes of GOT  Season 8 to continue writing the book.

The official premiere date of Game of Thrones Season 8 is on April 14, 2019, on HBO. It remains to be seen if George R.R. Martin would publish TWOW  right after the show concludes. For now, stay tuned to Business Times for the latest news and updates about The Winds of Winter book.
